Cora Bruno, a freshman at East High School, won the Youth Mentorship Award through HighTech Kids for her outstanding contributions to the FIRST LEGO League (FLL) Challenge program. Cora was recognized for her work mentoring FLL students in grades 4 through 8, inspiring the next generation of innovators and engineers.

The Youth Mentorship Award is presented to a mentor who has demonstrated an effective mentoring style that has had a positive impact on a FLL Challenge team while showing gracious professionalism. The mentoring initiative by 3D Robotics Duluth provides FLL students a role model to look up to, as well as, an attainable goal to reach for.

When asked why she mentors, Cora responded “I mentor like I have been coached. I think it is only right to give back everything I have been given.” The Youth Mentorship Award, along with a scholarship, was presented to Cora at the MN FLL Challenge State competition.

Lily Bruno, a junior at East High School, is a finalist for the prestigious FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) Tech Challenge (FTC) Dean’s List Award, one of the highest honors given to students involved in robotics. This recognition highlights Lily’s deep understanding of FIRST values and proactive steps she has taken to expand the knowledge of FIRST within her community.

FIRST Dean’s List is a national award reserved for students in 10th and 11th grades who have demonstrated exceptional leadership, commitment to FIRST values, and technical expertise. They are ambassadors of FIRST and represent the FIRST community on a national level.

Lily exhibits exceptional leadership and dedication within her FTC team and the 3D Robotics Duluth organization. She extends her impact beyond her team and FTC events through her excitement to share her love for robotics and engineering with the community. Lily’s passion for robotics, STEM, and mentorship has made a lasting impact on her peers and younger students as she inspires others to pursue STEM through robotics.
